St. Ambrose University in Davenport, IA seeks an innovative, visionary and collaborative leader for our Physical Therapy Department. Established in 1993, our program enrolls 36 students each year and has a record of exceptional outcomes including a 100% graduation rate, pass rate on the licensure examination, and employment in the last two years. Our Orthopedic Residency Program began in 2006 with 48 therapists completing the program and 96% achieving clinical specialization snce inception.
The department enjoys strong support from the clinical community and has a long tradition of preparing physical therapists with exceptional clinical skills across all areas of practice. Our ten core faculty members are committed to our vision of becoming a premier physical therapy department creating leaders who optimize healthcare. The faculty promote student centered learning and have established records of service and scholarship.
The Physical Therapy Department is one of ten units in the College of Health and Human Services. Faculty from throughout the college work together to support interprofessional education, person centered care, collaborative practice, community service and scholarship.
Responsibilities: The Director is responsible for all aspects of academic leadership and administration, providing mentorship and faculty development, budgeting and fiscal management, oversight of assessment and evaluation, and development of new initiatives. These efforts are supported by highly engaged personnel and a mature committee structure. Teaching responsibilities will be based on contemporary expertise and the needs of the department.
Qualifications: Applicants should hold an earned academic doctorate (PhD, EdD, DSc, or equivalent), have a minimum of 6 years of experience in higher education with a minimum of 3 years of experience in a physical therapist education program, and be eligible for licensure in Iowa. In addition, the Director should have demonstrated leadership experience, strong communication skills, and a record of teaching, scholarship, and service consistent with appointment at the associate or full professor rank. The position is a 12-month appointment with rank and salary commensurate with qualifications and experience. The position starts on July 1, 2021, but an earlier start date could be negotiated.
