The Computational Aerospace Laboratory, at the University of Southern California, seeks a postdoctoral research scholar interested in the CFD modeling, multi-fidelity simulation, and uncertainty quantification of the aerodynamics of Entry, Descent, and Landing (EDL) segments of space missions for planetary exploration. The successful applicant should demonstrate an ability to work independently with a small amount of supervision, as well as collaboratively with other research colleagues in multidisciplinary projects involving partners at other universities and at government research agencies.
-Â Â Â Â A Ph.D. degree in aerospace engineering, mechanical engineering, or related fields.
-Â Â Â Â Expertise in the numerical simulation of supersonic flow (RANS, LES, and/or DNS).
-Â Â Â Â Expertise in the analysis of large numerical datasets (knowledge of Uncertainty Quantification and/or
Machine Learning methods will be valued).
-Â Â Â Â Expertise Â inÂ high-performance Â computing,Â software development Â (C++Â and/or Â Python, MPI/or
GPUs), and the Linux operating system.
-Â Â Â Â A proven track record of publications in leading journals.
This is a full-time exempt/salary position, funded by a research contract/grant.
