: The Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University was established in 1979 to conduct basic and applied research in robotics technologies relevant to industrial and societal tasks. Seeking to combine the practical and the theoretical, we have diversified efforts and approaches to robotics science while retaining the original goal of realizing the potential of the robotics field.
Carnegie Mellon University's Robotics Institute is searching for a Research Associate I. This is an exciting opportunity for someone who thrives in an interesting and challenging work environment. You will contribute to the department by leading the development and integration of beacon-base localization and imu-based localization on a smartphone for indoor navigation for blind people.
Core responsibilities will include:
Using a variety of software packages to input, manipulate, collect and record results or observations.
Performs research experiments following experimental protocol and procedures. Researches and documents information by compiling and maintaining accurate and detailed records.
Summarizes statistical information for analysis, examination or presentation; writes technical reports. May build and validate quantitative models.
Identifies problems and obstacles to progress; develops strategies to solve problems.
May program software in support of job functions. Attends project meetings.
Performing related duties as assigned.
Bachelor's degree in a related field required. Master's degree preferred.
Minimum of 1 year of:
Research lab experience
Research methodology experience
Data collection and analysis experience
Minimum Strong experience with the following:
Problem-solving and reasoning skills
Oral and written communication skills
Research and development on computer vision algorithms preferred.
