Since 1896 the School of Dental Medicine has been educating students to take their places among the best dental practitioners in our region and across the country. This Dental Assistant position supports the School's Department of Restorative Dentistry and Comprehensive Care, working in our DMD student dental clinic where third- and fourth-year student dentists treat patients with oversight and direction from faculty.
The Dental Assistant will support efficient operation of the dental clinic to facilitate optimal learning by students in a patient-care environment. Duties include assisting student dentists chairside during procedures, taking and processing radiographs, turning over operatories between patients, maintaining clinical areas in accordance with sound infection control standards, managing instruments during and after patient use, assisting in greeting and seating patients, and performing other related clinical duties as requested. He/she will cooperate with the clinic's assigned dispensary clerk to ensure ready availability to student dentists of all necessary instruments and supplies.
Prefer completion of a formal dental assisting program or 2-3 years of experience in a dental assisting role if no formal training. Require certification to expose and process dental radiographs.
