The Freelance Digital Media Producer will be responsible for producing content to support Manhattan College’s digital presence including producing videos, managing photography assets, and contributing to social media management.
Reports to: Director of Web Communications
Independently produce high-quality, on-brand, on-message videos that showcase Manhattan College.
Lead all facets of video production, including, but not limited to, concept and script development, schedule planning, filming, editing, uploading, organizing and archiving all videos and video assets.
Film videos both in-person using COVID-safe protocols, as well as remotely.
Contribute to script and interview question development and conduct interviews with students, faculty, staff and alumni.
Organize, coordinate and schedule the logistical details of video production work.
Coordinate all aspects of video post-production including the selection of scenes, transitions, special effects, graphics, narration, voiceover, background music, and brand each video consistently in accordance with the College’s brand standards.
Contribute to strategic initiatives and objectives by developing original video concepts and initiating new video projects.
Manage, maintain and organize all video equipment, including, but not limited to, cameras, lens, lighting and audio equipment, and keep abreast of new technologies.
Work closely with the Marketing & Communication team to create content for the College’s social media channels, including YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, and LinkedIn.
Manage student workers and freelancers to assist with video & photography projects.
YouTube studio management including uploads, captioning, tagging, and using other YouTube Partner Program features (including cards & end screens) to boost viewer engagement & watch time.
Manage photography assets, including receiving files from hired photographers, keywording photos and uploading photos into the digital asset management system.
Familiarity with virtual and live streamed events is a plus.
Assists with other projects related to Manhattan College’s digital communications.
3+ years experience
Advanced knowledge of video & photo editing with Adobe Premiere and Lightroom
Advanced videography & photography skills
Basic After Effects, Photoshop and audio editing skills
Exceptional communication and organizational skills
Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously and meet deadlines
High level of initiative and ability to work with minimal supervision
Knowledge of utilizing social media for professional communications
Ability to effectively work with colleagues from across the College ranging from executives to student workers
Bachelor’s degree in broadcast journalism, communications or related
