The Rehabilitation Studies Grant Director manages and directs two $1 million RSA grants awarded to the Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling programs. The Grant Director will coordinate, monitor, and report on both RSA grants. This position will manage grant budgets, supervise students, assist with program coordination, oversee grant activities, recruit perspective students, and build relationships with internal and external constituents in relation to the Rehabilitation Counseling and Rehabilitation and Addiction Counseling programs.
Responsibilities and Results
Grant Management (40%)
Responsible for managing federal grants, which includes:
Knowledge of RSA grants and the practices and procedures specific to student applicants, student scholars, and graduated scholars
Leading annual and quarterly reporting activities
Maintaining a specialized database system for the recording and tracking of traineeships called Personal Information Management System (PIMS)
Ensuring grant obligations are met by understanding and integrating knowledge from faculty, the RSA representative, and students
Interviewing and qualifying students eligible for the RSA traineeship
Attend and table at local and national events
Present at local and national events
Assisting with writing and responding to grant RFPs
Management of cost center accounts for all grants awarded to the Rehabilitation Studies program
Develops cost estimates for grant stipends for each grant scholar, during each semester
Direct any future RSA grants awarded to the program
Budget Administration (20%)
Responsible to determine and award student tuition scholarships
Determine and award professional development scholarships
Evaluate and approve travel expenditures and administrative supplies expenditures
Monitors spending to ensure grant is spent down by the end of the year
Collaborate with the Office of Research and Sponsored Programs, the Business Office and Financial Aid Office at St. Cloud State to ensure federal grant dollars are spent in a timely and precise manner.
Program Coordination (40%)
Supervision of students
Supervise and provide work direction to Graduate Assistants
Ensures that Graduate Assistants acquire necessary training
Supports Graduate Assistants in partnering with student services across campus to support the broader work of the university
Improve assessments used to evaluate Graduate Assistants
Supervise and track academic and work progress of grant scholars
Confirm that grant scholars are placed in a qualifying internship as is specified by RSA
Ensure employment of graduated grant scholars meets qualifications as is specified by RSA
Provide qualified employment opportunities to grant scholars by constantly forwarding open positions
Ensure all grant scholars understand what is expected of them prior to signing their grant scholar contracts
Responsible for leading the evaluation process as outlined for each grant to ensure project goals are met
Assist with program applications and interviews, and identifies candidates eligible to apply for the RSA traineeships
Coordination of program events, trainings, activities, classes and workshops/conferences
Building relationships with external constituents
Assists students with developing marketing materials
Meet and advise potential students
Redesigns student forms to ensure improvement in program materials.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university with at least two years professional experience in the field of Vocational Rehabilitation, Disability or RSA grant management.
Knowledge of the U.S. Department of Education discretionary funding opportunities federal grants, and U.S. Department of Education data tracking systems.
At least one year of experience with grants/contracts administration, research administration, preparing contracts/agreements, or preparing detailed budgets and financial projections.
Evidence of ability to coordinate collaborative efforts, and to work flexibly with others and maintain professional relationships with individuals and teams of diverse personalities and perspectives.
Evidence of the ability to work with persons with disabilities as well as those from culturally diverse backgrounds.
Strong technical and computer skills and experience; including experience with word processing, experience with spreadsheets (including financial analysis) and experience with databases (including queries and reporting).
Master's degree from an accredited college or university with at least one-year professional experience in the field of Rehabilitation or Counseling.
Proven ability to develop and maintain professional relationships with individuals and teams of diverse personalities and perspectives.
Excellent public speaking skills.
