Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Mental Health Clinician III for the Outpatient First Episode Psychosis department at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
Provides outpatient mental health services that demonstrate cultural sensitivity and meet the needs of designated UBHC consumers. Evaluates consumer needs and delivers therapeutic interventions incorporating evidence based individual, group, and family therapy as appropriate for mental health and co-occurring substance use issues.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Conducts behavioral health assessments with clinical skill while showing appropriate respect, concern and understanding for the individual.
Establishes appropriate DSM IV diagnoses and documents diagnoses in the clinical record at the time of assessment with updates when clinically appropriate.
Demonstrates an awareness of available resources on the unit (e.g. current group therapy opportunities) and refers individuals as appropriate.
Collaborates effectively with other staff members, staff from other units, outside agencies, and members of the individual's family or other support networks to enhance care.
Advocates for individuals served to assure that issues of culture or language do not create a barrier to effective care.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Minimum of a Master's Degree in a Mental Health or related discipline and a New Jersey license as required by discipline.
Applicants possessing a Degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrated competency in treating children, adolescents, adults and families, including those with co-occurring disorders.
Demonstrated ability to assess level of care needs and provide outpatient group therapy treatment.
Sufficient computer literacy to effectively use the electronic medical record (EMR), email, Internet/Intranet.
Bilingual skills (English/Spanish).
May be required to work at least (1) evening per week.
