The New School seeks an Associate Director of Student Accounts in the Student Financial Services Office to assist in the administration of all student accounts functions that support Open Campus. General responsibilities include: system configuration, management, maintenance; invoicing; hold management; collections; processing student payment; processing student refunds; reporting and auditing; all related accounting operations, handling all Open Campus student financial services inquiries. Reporting to the Director of Student Accounts, the Associate Director is a senior manager on the Student Financial Services team.
Responsibilities: - Managing all aspects of the tuition billing system including configuration, rule set-up, testing, and processing, all in a timely, effective, and accurate manner. - Process holds and manage collections process for Open Campus populations - Receive and process and electronic, check, and cash payments for Open Campus - Assist Open Campus students and parents with understanding the charges and paying the bill -Identify and process refunds accurately and timely to the original form of payment. -Prepare reports for leadership on billing and receivable related data points. -Participate in the implementation of DestinyOne and manage system integration troubleshooting and testing from a Student Account perspective -Prepare process documentation and instructions for students and parents - Effectively manage all day-to-day operations of the Student Accounts area pertaining to all matters related to Open Campus. - Work closely with the Business and Finance regarding reconciliation of accounts including loans and student refunds as well as end of year reconciliation and the annual audit. - Ensure excellent customer service to students, parents, faculty and staff in all interactions. - Perform other job related duties as assigned.
- BA/BS in accounting, finance, business administration or related field – At least 5 years of related experience – Significant student account experience in progressively responsible positions. – Thorough knowledge of generally accepted accounting principles and practices. - Knowledge and understanding of federal cash management regulations. - Knowledge of FERPA, PCI, GDPR, and other related privacy regulations. - Excellent data and analytical, planning, organizational, verbal and written communication skills required. - Extensive experience working in Excel in order to quantify and illustrate financial reports, comparisons, impacts and/or projections. - Experience with SCT Banner a plus.
