The University of Southern California Department of Political Science and International Relations is seeking a post-doctoral research associate to work with two newly established research centers: The USC Institute for Intersectionality and Social Transformation (USC-IIST) and the USC Dornsife Center for Leadership by Women of Color (CLWoC).Â The research associate will work directly with the leader of both organizations, Ange-Marie Hancock Alfaro, and a multi-disciplinary research team to shepherd work conducted in collaboration with the Los Angeles Homeless Services Agency (LAHSA) to pilot the implementation of recommendations developed by the 2019 report from the Ad-Hoc Committee on Homelessness Experienced by Black People.Â
The postdoctoral scholar will coordinate the research-practice partnership activities related to this project; conduct the data management and analysis for this project; conduct literature reviews; draft presentations, reports, and policy briefs; present at frequent meetings with workgroups organized to prioritize, pilot and assess the recommendations. Specifically, project activities will involve communicating with LAHSA, key stakeholders, and the research team; developing a thorough understanding of administrative data in the sector; creating codebooks for complex datasets; analyzing and graphing data; writing about results for both practitioner and research audiences; drafting reports and scholarly papers; assisting with grant proposals; and regularly attending planning and project meetings. Where applicable, the postdoctoral scholar will also help secure data agreements with postsecondary institutions and assist with grant proposals.Â The postdoc will also have the opportunity to co-author research stemming from this project and, given the current COVID-19 conditions, may have the option to work remotely as necessary or required by local health regulations.
This is a one-year fixed term position.
