The Humanities Department of Jefferson Community and Technical College has openings for TESOL Adjunct Instructors to prepare and train individuals who seek to teach English language learners across contexts.
The primary responsibilities of these positions are to teach courses, maintain some office hours for mentoring and coaching students, success and retention activities, and utilization of a learning management system such as Blackboard for communication and feedback. These positions may teach on any of Jefferson's campus.

Master's Degree in TESOL, linguistics, or English Education with an emphasis in TESOL and at least 2 years of teaching experience. Teaching experience in a community college or community-based ELL program is preferred.
Qualified candidates must be able to possess the following:
Introduce theory, research, and pedagogy associated with the development of literacy in two languages.
Design core objectives that reflect what learning a second language entails.
Design language learning techniques with the objectives of teaching ESL/EFL.
Demonstrate how context contributes to identity formation and therefore influences learning.
Utilize research on assessment instruments classroom learning and design.
Survey current theory and practice in teaching English to non-native speakers.
Identify issues and research in language learner assessment and testing.
Candidates who have experience with intersectional, inclusive instruction and with a demonstrated ability to incorporate diverse perspectives into teaching and student engagement are encouraged to identify those experiences in the application materials. Candidates should also have experience using instructional technology, such as Blackboard, and sensitivity working with colleagues and students from diverse backgrounds and a commitment to fostering an inclusive work and learning environment in which students from a variety of backgrounds, cultures, and personal experiences are welcomed and can thrive.
