The Department of Nuclear Engineering invites applications for a full-time Accounting Specialist I, reporting directly to the Business Manager. This position supports the department head, business manager, faculty, staff and students with the day to day financial and administrative functions of the department. This position performs diversified tasks in the maintenance of all accounting, financial, and event planning activities for the department, and provides general information and policy guidance as needed.
Responsibilities: *Process departmental travel requests and expenses. *Process invoices and credit memos including new vendor requests. *Attach and verify assigned general ledger accounts (150+) have appropriate documentation monthly. *Maintain departmental purchasing card, and order supplies, etc. for faculty, staff and students. *Process all Purchase/Framework orders, including those with bid requirements. *Process all Accounts Payable and Receivables contracts, including those with non-compete justifications. This includes contracts that have no cost (software, equipment loan, etc.). *Process miscellaneous reimbursements and cost transfers. *Maintain all departmental records for contracts, invoices, procurement card statements, and cost transfers as needed. *Enter and create asset information for sensitive minor equipment and equipment. Assist with annual asset inventory. *Attend campus meetings and trainings to stay informed of changing policies and procedures. *Communicate policy and procedural changes to faculty, staff, and students. *Provide backup for payroll, academic support, and answering main department phone line and email account. *Responsible for departmental event planning, and coordinates weekly colloquiums, including speaker travel arrangements. *Perform other duties as assigned
