Neuroimaging Research Assistant, Clinical (Contingent II) - (2000004B)
The University of Maryland, Baltimore (UMB) School of Dentistry has two Clinical Research Assistant positions available in the human neuroimaging and psychophysics lab of the Department of Neural & Pain Sciences. These research assistant positions perform collection, maintenance, quality assurance, and analysis of data for multiple ongoing projects in the lab

Perform data collection interview, MRI, EEG, psychophysical testing, and questionnaires. Recruit and screen subjects for research studies. Collect baseline and follow-up data from subjects including verification of eligibility; obtaining consent and enrollment; assuring accurate demographic information for follow-up. Check validity and accuracy of data ensuring compliance with quality control requirements and clinical relevance.
Process and analyze neuroimaging and behavioral data.
Coordinate the research study team including facility recruitment; subject sampling and staff scheduling. Monitors interviewers and procures equipment and supplies.
Establish and maintain database files and reports on progress of programs, studies, and/or projects. May perform data analysis and interpretation.
Assist in developing and recommending policies and procedures and/or methods for clinical research activities. Create and implement data management plans to ensure timely data tracking and quality control, as well as standardization of data collection and management across the studies in the lab.
May perform administrative duties such as: providing training and guidance to interviewers; assisting in developing and submitting grants, papers, abstracts, manuscripts and presenting studies; developing protocol manuals and data collection instruments; participating in field visits, responding to requests and questions from individuals, institutions, government agencies, and funding agencies; and participating in the design of research studies.
Order materials and equipment.
Train employees and students in laboratory techniques.
Perform general housekeeping of laboratory.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelors in Neuroscience, Epidemiology, Sociology, Psychology, Computer Science, Nursing or field of study related to the research of the clinic
Familiarity with human subjects research, clinical trials, fMRI study design, data collection, organization, and analysis preferred.
Other: May consider a combination of directly related experience and education.
Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Strong understanding of image processing and signal processing, including structural MRI, BOLD signals, and EEG signals, and the statistical analysis of these data at single-subject and group levels.
Ability to collect and securely store high quality neuroimaging data.
Knowledge of how to collect of EEG data, ensuring high-quality data acquisition and accurate collection of signals from peripheral components.
Skill in statistical interpretation and data analysis using statistical software, including neuroimaging analysis packages, as well as spreadsheet and database software applications.
Ability to run quality control checks on neuroimaging data.
Knowledge of quantitative sensory testing.
Knowledge of how to collect MRI data, ensuring correct MRI sequences and data quality at time of collection.
