To assist with research activities within the Department of Psychiatry related to Sleep and Circadian Rhythms in various clinical populations. With guidance from faculty and research personnel, the research technician associate will handle organizational and administrative details of assigned projects, including but not limited to screening and collecting information from potential participants according to the research study protocols, conduct interviews in person and via phone calls, conduct epidemiological, social or behavioral assessments, and collect data and/or biological samples from research participants in studies. The associate will also coordinate study visits and follow-up of study participants with some oversight of day-to-day operation of project. The associate may also assist in preparation of progress reports and other summary materials, perform literature searches and copying articles. The potential exists to assist in the preparation of research papers and manuscripts for publication and presentations at conferences and workshops. The associate will work collaboratively and also independently with other team members to fulfill the goals of the project.
Bachelor's degree with academic knowledge of a health science discipline such as neuroscience, public health, psychology, social work or related behavioral sciences
Excellent organizational skills with keen attention to detail
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to interact productively with other research team members
Excellent computer skills (Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint) and willingness to learn and develop additional computer skills related to data management and preparation of data for analysis
Previous clinical or research experience in a human science field is desired, but not required.
This is a full time position; 40 hours/week. There may be 2-3 late evening shifts a week, that could end as late as 3-4am. On days with no evening shifts, office hours can start later. Thus, availability to work evenings, and weekends when called for under the planned study protocols is required.
This will be a 1 year, term-limited appointment with the possibility of extension.
