The NMR laboratory in the Division of Science, New York University Abu Dhabi, seeks to recruit a research assistant to work on the analysis of protein interactions with topologically non-trivial metal-organic complexes.
The successful applicant will conduct a series of measurements to collect protein NMR spectra aimed at assessing the type and the extent of the interactions that occur between classes of paradigmatic proteins and newly synthesized metal-templated assemblies derived from topologically non-trivial molecular knot or link species. The NMR group has been long involved in a collaboration with the group of prof. Trabolsi, at NYUAD, that provides the synthetic products. The doubly labeled (15N/13C) proteins for NMR characterization are obtained by recombinant DNA technology from collaborators at Pavia University, Italy, Milan University, Italy, Eotvos University, Budapest Hungary. The candidate will specifically address the differences in the interaction pattern that can be observed with chemically-modified metal-templated challenged with amyloidogenic proteins or analogous immunoglobulin domains from single-chain antibody variable domains. The candidate will work in a multidisciplinary environment consisting of PhD-level scientists, graduate students and undergraduate students.
Applicants must have a Master diploma in Biotechnology, Chemistry or related field with specific experience in protein NMR spectroscopy. Experimental and informatics skills relevant to the project (in particular NMR data processing and restrained modeling) are required.
Applications will be accepted immediately and candidates will be considered until the position is filled. To be considered, all applicants must submit a cover letter, curriculum vitae, transcript of degree, a one-page summary of research accomplishments and interests, and at least two letters of recommendation, all in PDF format. If you have any questions, please email: Gennaro Esposito email@example.com.
