Master's degree in appropriate field and 18 credit graduate hours in Sociology is required. Preference will be given to applicants that can also teach in a related area such as philosophy or world religions. A demonstrated record of excellence in teaching at the college level is preferred. Candidates must also have a working knowledge of computers as a medium to manage and improve instruction. Other desired qualities include: (1) The ability to interact with a broad range of people both on and off campus in a positive manner. (2) Show evidence of excellent oral and written communication skills. (3) Possess an understanding of the range of needs community college students represent and a commitment to the philosophy and mission of the community college. (4) Willingness to improve instruction through professional development including pedagogy and technology.
