We are currently seeking a Controller who will be responsible for the operations and administration of the College's accounting structure, including the receipt, disbursement, pre-audit, and internal control of all college funds.
This is a full-time, exempt, administrative position.
Examples of Duties
Oversee and direct all general accounting systems and internal controls; ensuring consistency with the College’s mission and strategic plans and compliance with Board of Trustees’ policies, federal regulations, state fiscal rules, and other applicable accounting rules and regulations involving accounts payable, accounts receivable, payroll, grants, and capital expenditures.
Manage the accumulation and consolidation of all financial data necessary to create accurate financial statements in accordance with all applicable federal and local regulations, and accounting practices.
Measure and report on the effectiveness of policies, organization structure, and procedures for obtaining the above objectives; this includes consulting with all College departments responsible for any phase of the accounting operation as it relates to the performance of this function.
Report to all government and external agencies as required and supervise all matters relating thereto.
Protect all College assets by maintaining and assuring the accuracy of the fixed asset inventory. This function includes establishing and maintaining adequate internal controls and auditing all fixed assets owned by or held in trust by the College.
Perform all other duties as assigned by the Vice President for Finance and Administrative Services.
Earned Bachelor’s Degree — major in accounting (CPA preferred).
Five years’ experience in a higher education environment and at the management level.
Extensive experience in supervising an accounting operation.
Strong communication, management, organizational, and computer literacy skills required.
