The Department Pharmacology and Toxicology at the University of Alabama at Birmingham (UAB), is inviting applications for an Open Rank-Open Tenure RESEARCH faculty position level (PhD, MD, MD/PhD, DVM, PharmD, or equivalent) depending on experience, research and scholarly accomplishments. Candidates at the Associate/Full Professor level should have a distinguished research program supported by peer-reviewed grants. Applicants with experience in any area relevant to cancer treatment will be considered, however, candidates with interests in molecularly targeted therapeutics, drug distribution and metabolism, developing model systems relevant to cancer, or in more translational aspects of pharmacology or pharmacometrics as they relate to cancer are encouraged to apply. Successful candidates will also assist in training/teaching medical and graduate students. The department offers a highly interactive, well-equipped, multidisciplinary work environment. Opportunities are available for collaboration with other basic science departments in the areas of neurobiology, chemistry, biochemistry, and genetics and with clinical programs and departments involved in the treatment of solid tumors and hematological malignancies in an NCI-funded Comprehensive Cancer Center.
