The Assistant Director of Student Programmingprovides oversight for a comprehensive variety of programs and services that support the Office of Student Engagement, Student Affairs and the co-curricular educational goals outlined in Vanguard’s Four-Year Discipleship Plan. This position will provide direct oversight of the Student Programming Board, several large campus events, Student Marketing Team and fair parking fundraiser. The Assistant Director of Student Programmingreports to the Associate Dean of Students.
Oversee the Student Programming Board and Campus Events:
Oversee the planning and implementation of traditional student events.
Provide programming designed to meet the unique needs of Vanguard’s diverse student body, reflect Christian values, and support the educational themes of Vanguard’s Four-Year Discipleship Plan.
Evaluate programs and maintain program assessment records.
Ensure necessary liability and safety considerations for events are put into place for any on-campus and off-campus events.
Oversee the development of new and creative strategies to increase student involvement on campus.
Oversee the selection, supervision and development of the Student Programming Board.
Participate in retreats, preparation, and all other student leader training related to the Student Programming Board.
Supervise weekly Programming Board meetings and mentor Programming Board members.
Promote the accomplishment of the University's mission and educational targets in all activities of the Office of Student Engagement.
Invest in students to promote accountability and encourage professional, personal and spiritual growth for the Student Programming Board.
Oversee the Student Marketing Team:
Oversee the Student Marketing Team in creating new and creative strategies to increase student awareness on campus.
Manage marketing efforts for the various programs and department within the Office of Student Engagement.
Develop and manage systems to support the Student Marketing Team’s project requests to ensure the students have a manageable project load.
Oversee the selection, supervision and development of the Student Marketing Team.
Participate in retreats, preparation, and all other student leader training related to the Student Marketing Team.
Supervise weekly Student Marketing Team meetings and mentor Student Marketing Team members.
Invest in students to promote accountability and encourage professional, personal and spiritual growth for the Student Marketing Team.
Performs other duties as assigned:
Assist the Associate Dean of Students in implementation of Leadership Development programming, including but not limited to the Four Year Discipleship Plan, the annual Student Affairs Leadership Retreat for 120+ participants
Coordinates the annual Fair Parking Fundraiser, including the hiring and training of a student intern, scheduling for all departments, coordination with Campus Safety, and all communication to Vanguard and external constituencies about the necessary details of this program.
Maintain scheduled office hours.
Maintain evening and weekend availability for programs with advanced notice.
Participate in personal and professional development with supervisor.
Attend Student Affairs staff meetings.
Maintain a lifestyle in consonance with sound Christian principles and those promulgated by the institution.
Other duties as assigned
Bachelor’s degree required, master’s degree in Higher Education Administration or related field preferred.
Demonstrated competence and skills in leadership and administration including: ability to lead individuals and groups in setting and attaining goals; ability to assess needs and develop programming to optimally meet needs; ability to develop student leaders to their full potential; ability to make wise and mature judgments; ability to communicate effectively in written and oral form; ability to creatively and fairly solve problems.

Experience and skills in group leadership.
Strong event/program planning and organizational skills.
