The Division of Cardiology, Department of Medicine has two available positions for General Cardiologists. The first position will include responsibilities at the medical center and at an outreach clinic. Responsibilities will include outpatient cardiology care (including developing a referral practice), providing inpatient care, interpreting echocardiograms, performing stress tests and other non-invasive cardiology services, and teaching of cardiovascular fellows, residents, and medical students. Well-developed interpersonal and communication skills and the ability to practice independently are essential.
The second position will be based at the UNC campus in Chapel Hill. Responsibilities will include outpatient cardiology and developing an independent, externally funded research program. Attending on inpatient cardiology services and interpreting echocardiograms are possibilities but not essential. A well -developed track record in cardiovascular research, a strong interest in collaboration and the ability to attract extramural funding are very important. This position will hold a joint appointment in the McAllister Heart Institute.
Education and Experience:
The successful candidates will be Board Certified or Board Eligible in Cardiovascular Disease. Board Certification in Echocardiography is strongly preferred for the first position.
