Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a part-time Mental Health Clinician II for the Child and Adolescent Services – School Based Program at Rutgers University Behavioral Health Care.
Under supervision, the Mental Health Clinician II coordinates and provides comprehensive mental health care and related services to children and adolescents in schools. Assists in the development of treatment plans, including referral for appropriate level of mental health services. Demonstrates competency in assessing and treating children and adolescents (5-18 years).
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Assumes overall case management responsibilities for assigned clients including coordination of treatment, scheduling of groups, and liaison with community agencies as measured by supervisory observation and record review.
Provides individual, group, and family psychotherapy as clinically indicated to assigned clients, including children and adolescents (5-18 years).
Conducts accurate assessment and involves client and/or family in developing achievable and understandable psychosocial treatment plans in accordance with accepted professional and University Behavioral Health Care standards.
Completes report of initial evaluations and treatment plan for client's chart within prescribed time period as indicated by a regular review of records.
Documents clinical treatment in compliance with JC and University Behavioral Health Care quality standards as indicated by regular review records.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Master's Degree in a mental health discipline plus two (2) years post master's experience in the mental health field, or Doctorate Degree.
Applicants possessing a degree in Social Work must have an active New Jersey certification/licensure as required by the State Board of Social Work.
Licensed in New Jersey to provide mental health services as an independent practitioner (e.g., LCSW, LPC, LMFT, psychology license).
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Demonstrates competency in recognizing the unique needs and behavior of children (5 – 12 years) and adolescents (13 – 18 years).
Bi-lingual skills (English/Spanish).
Position requires flexible scheduling including evening and Saturday hours on occasion.
Must have a valid driver’s license.
