Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
The Dehm Lab at the Masonic Cancer Center, University of Minnesota is developing biomarkers that predict efficacy of targeted therapeutics for men with advanced prostate cancer, and creating new mouse models of prostate cancer to study the role and regulation of these biomarkers. We are seeking a highly motivated Researcher with training and experience in biochemistry, molecular biology, genetics, or a related discipline to conduct DNA isolation from clinical specimens for downstream molecular analysis, as well as manage breeding and genotyping of mouse colonies for prostate cancer investigations.
10% - assist the principal investigator in designing research projects
30% - receive and track plasma specimens from clinical biobanks, isolate and characterize DNA from plasma, and coordinate submission of DNA for downstream molecular analysis.
30% - maintain, breed, genotype, and characterize mouse colonies for prostate cancer investigations.
20% - record and analyze data in written and electronic formats; generate analysis reports, figures, and illustrations for the principal investigator and research sponsor
10% - communicate research approaches and outcomes in written and oral presentations with the principal investigator and research sponsor
All required qualifications must be documented on application materials.
BA/BS + 1 year of experience or a combination of related education and work experience to equal 5 years;
Experience with techniques, reagents, and instrumentation for DNA isolation and characterization, polymerase chain reaction (PCR) and analysis of PCR products, handling mice
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including experience in scientific communications, are essential.
The preferred candidate will have experience with the techniques and instrumentation for western blot analysis, chromatin immunoprecipitation, and real-time PCR.
