The Social Work Department at Southern Illinois University Edwardsville invites applications for a tenure-track Assistant Professor in Social Work. The department is committed to fostering a diverse faculty that represents our communities and student body. The duties involve teaching course work at both the BSW and MSW levels, research/scholarship, and service to the department, college, university, and community. Ability to teach across the curriculum is important.
The mission of the Social Work Department is clear and concise: to promote social and economic justice and enhance social well-being through the provision of quality education, excellence in scholarship, and collaboration in community service.
SIUE’s programs are noted in the region for their unique use of a simulated lab clinical experience. Students participate in a mock clinical setting with hired actors that simulate actual experiences in the field, and complete their degree after extensive experience in an actual social work setting. Both the BSW and MSW programs are accredited by the Council on Social Work Education’s Commission on Accreditation. Terms of Appointment This position is a continuing, tenure-track academic year (nine-month) appointment, beginning August 2021.
Persons who have not completed all degree requirements (ABD) by the beginning of the contract period may be considered for a one-year appointment at the rank of instructor.
