Performs detailed verification of financial aid application information and data as required by the U.S. Department of Education to determine an applicant's eligibility for financial aid funding.
Scans various financial aid application documents, and links/loads each document to the appropriate student's PeopleSoft account. Updates student accounts as appropriate including clearing C-flags and checklist items to advance the application in the verification process. Monitors the volume and priority of scanning and linking financial aid forms to student accounts. Follows UTA and departmental retention guidelines to monitor the shredding and organization of all documents that are scanned and linked/loaded into PeopleSoft. Supervises student employees to accomplish these goals. Runs identifying queries to determine applications ready for verification. Evaluates, reviews and compares applicant IRS tax data, verification worksheets, and other required documents to the information/data on the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Makes necessary corrections to applicant FAFSA information. Communicates with applicants through written and oral communications regarding incomplete or conflicting application information. Requests additional information/documentation or financial aid forms as needed. Updates system flags, checklists, and notes on applicant's PeopleSoft account concerning the status of the verification process. Maintains current knowledge of federal and institutional financial aid application processes, documents, policies, and procedures. Performs other duties as assigned.
Associate's degree. Two (2) years of college or the equivalent experience. Two (2) years of experience in a position requiring considerable record keeping accuracy and attention to detail. Ability to accurately evaluate and process information. Experience with the use of standard office equipment and personal computers. Ability to effectively communicate with internal and external customers verbally and in writing.
One (1) year of federal financial aid experience. Knowledge of PeopleSoft and ImageNow software.
