The Wyss Institute seeks a talented individual to join our community as a Business Development Associate.
Reporting to the Business Development Director, the successful candidate will provide high- level support for the Institute's fast-paced business development activities by supporting startup formation, licensing, and alliance management activities. Specific tasks include: embedding in scientific teams to understand their business needs, evaluating business opportunities, creating pitch decks, soliciting investor feedback, soliciting industry feedback, organizing alliance meetings, helping manage contract research organizations, conducting in-depth market research and analysis and preparing reports with actionable insights for the Business Development Team, triaging information requests from external stakeholders, leading preparation and coordination of analyses and briefing packages; maintaining the Institute's business development databases; and completing special projects as required by management.
The mission of the Wyss Institute for Biologically Inspired Engineering at Harvard University is to transform human healthcare and the environment by emulating the way nature builds. Developed as an alliance between Harvard and other premier academic and clinical partner institutions, Institute faculty and staff collaborate in high-risk, fundamental research and science-driven technology development. Union: 00 - Non Union, Exempt or Temporary
Bachelor's degree required in Biology, Synthetic Biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent OR a Bachelor's degree in Business. A minimum of 3 years' experience working with business development or technology translation required. Advanced Degree may count towards years of experience.
MBA or advanced degree in biology, synthetic biology, Molecular Biology, Biochemistry, Biomedical Engineering or equivalent strongly preferred. Experience working in both technology translation and the scientific community strongly preferred. Experience working in healthcare or strategic management consulting firm preferred. Excellent interpersonal and engagement skills. Highly motivated to tackle multiple projects in a dynamic team environment, Strong verbal and written communication skills. Strong organizational skills with a creative, entrepreneurial mindset. Demonstrates a high degree of discretion dealing with confidential information. Demonstrates a commitment to diversity, inclusion, and cultural awareness through actions, interactions and communications with others.
