Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Bachelor's degree (foreign equivalent or higher). Two (2) years of full-time experience working in a physical therapy lab. Experience gathering patient data, maintaining research data and updating database with ability to run queries from database. Familiarity with basic medical equipment and able to measure and record vital signs. Experience with Microsoft Suite. Physically capable of assisting participants on the treadmill.
Experience in clinical research. Formal education in a clinical, exercise or health field. Knowledge of human subject protection procedures. Excel skills to summarize data via several software platforms. CPR Certification. *Completion of the Collaborative Institutional Training Initiative (CITI) and HIPAA training (if the trainings are not yet completed, they will be required for the successful incumbent to complete).
Brief Description of Duties:
We are looking for a full-time human research study coordinator to become part of our team assisting people with a spinal cord injury. Qualified candidates should have a good work ethic and be a team player. Candidates will either be sent to a professional course to learn specific study intervention procedures or trained by our expert team of trainers on site.
The successful incumbent will have excellent organization skills and will showcase this by coordinating team members schedules and the study participants schedule. The Research Study Coordinator will have the physical ability to perform labor intensive work. Effective communication skills are necessary as the incumbent will be communicating with patients frequently.
The Research Associate (Study Coordinator) will be responsible for assisting with research projects including the following:
Able to recruit new participants by introducing research study to a potential person with a spinal cord injury (SCI).
Communicate with participants, study principal investigator (PI) and other team members.
Prepare the study set-up prior to arrival of participant
Train SCI participant to ambulate on a treadmill with physical assistance to legs or hips while supported by an overhead harness system
Control an easy-operating program-based treadmill (speed and weight support) during treadmill training
Record and store research data, analyze and tabulate the results.
Maintain a clean and hygienic environment before, during and after each study session.
Prepare documents, including renewal of IRB application, writing report, preparing poster or ppt for presentation/conference.
Assist SCI participants to transfer across surfaces (e.g. wheelchair to mat)
Check data to ensure data quality. Store all paper records according to compliance procedures.
Prepare results in requesting formats suggested by the study team and PI.
Maintain and develop procedural manuals.
Inform PI and assist in ordering supplies for the study.
Other duties as assigned.
The Research Foundation of SUNY is a private educational corporation. Employment is subject to the Research Foundation policies and procedures, sponsor guidelines and the availability of funding. FLSA Exempt position, not eligible for the overtime provisions of the FLSA. Minimum salary threshold must be met to maintain FLSA exemption. Evening and weekend work will be required at times. Frequently assists patients with moving study participants.
