We are seeking candidates for a Junior Unix Systems Engineer primarily responsible for server and service management within the central group supporting enterprise wide systems. You will triage incoming service requests and provide timely resolutions, create and maintain existing operating system and software infrastructure underlying our Unix application and database systems.
Core Responsibilities include:
Triage incoming service requests and questions to determine which team member(s), including oneself, is best suited for a thorough and timely resolution of the issue or question
Maintain and administer UNIX servers and related computer systems, including hardware, operating systems software, applications software, and all configurations.
Gather requirements from users and other division staff for new functionality and improvements to current functionality.
Participate in designing solutions to fill those requirements, including hardware and software upgrade schedule planning.
Implement solutions and manage their development, including ensuring that deadlines are met and necessary functionality is complete.
Testing and performance analysis of new softw are and hardware systems to ensure proper functionality
Ensure that all system administrator projects and procedures are documented, including design documents, ongoing status reports, and summary reports
You must demonstrate:
Ability to work independently and to participate as a member of cross-departmental project teams
Bachelor's degree or an equivalent combination of education and or experience is required.
A minimum of 1 year of experience in the following areas:
Unix/Linux System Administration Experience
Overall IT experience
