The role of the Accounting Manager is to provide advanced-level support for the financial activities of the Department of Neurobiology, Systems Neuroscience Institute, Brain Institute, CNBC, AIC and CNUP areas. The incumbent will serve as the primary contact for all pre and post-award activities that support the department's sponsored research programs including origination of sponsored project budgets and proposal submissions, posting and reconciling expenditures in the Department Manager system, and providing monthly financial reports and program statistics/projections to investigators and the Executive Administrator. The incumbent will also be responsible for the following: - Managing the day to day operations of the Accounting Office with supervision of a Financial Administrator (Finance III level) and a Pre-award grants administrator (Admin II level). - Assist the Executive Administrator with planning, reconciling and projecting departmental, discretionary and gift accounts - Create and monitor cost center budgets for SNARL, Humanity Gift Registry, RBAC and the Animal Imaging Center - Gather all materials for auditors, the Annual Report, monthly variance reports and other reports requested by the SOM and Health Sciences offices - Assume functions of Executive Administrator in her absence with authority to approve purchases, attend meetings, etc.
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or Business Administration with at least 5-6 years of relevant experience or equivalent combination of education and experience, per University guidelines. Experience with research administration is essential. Prior University and supervisory experience is preferred.
Prior University experience in the management of research funding is preferred. Incumbent must be proficient in Excel and Word
