South Central College is accepting applications for an unlimited, full-time Paramedic Instructor who will also function as the Program Director of the Intensive Care Paramedic program.
This position will be based on the North Mankato campus with class held during daytime, evening, and weekend timeframes. He/she will be responsible for student instruction and is expected to have the ability to work with a diverse population of learners. The individual will be expected to work as a team member in maintaining a learning environment that meets the educational requirements of the post-secondary student and provide frequent assessments of the students’ progress in achieving acceptable program requirements.
This position will assume all faculty responsibilities as provided by the MSCF Contract. As the Program Director, due to accreditation, this individual must be responsible for all aspects of the program, including but not limited to:
the administration, organization, and supervision of the educational program.
the continuous quality review and improvement of the educational program.
long range planning and ongoing development of the program.
the effectiveness of the program, including instruction and faculty, with systems in place to demonstrate the effectiveness of the program.
cooperative involvement with the medical director.
the orientation/training and supervision of clinical and field internship preceptors.
the effectiveness and quality of fulfillment of responsibilities delegated to another qualified individual.
Education Requirement: Bachelor’s degree. (Program accreditation requires the program director to hold a bachelor’s degree.)
Occupational Experience Requirement: Three full-time years (or equivalent) of verified related paid work experience in pre-hospital, emergency, or critical care settings.
Recency Requirement: One year of this work experience shall be within the five years immediately preceding the date of application for the credential field. The recency requirement shall be waived if the individual has two years of successful full-time (or equivalent) postsecondary teaching experience in the credential field within the last five years.
Professional Requirement: Current Minnesota certification, registration, or licensure as a paramedic, physician, physician’s assistant, or registered nurse.
Recent critical care experience.
Experience teaching in an accredited paramedic program.
Experience with curriculum development.
