Research Support - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Rutgers, the State University of New Jersey is seeking a Research Associate I for the Medical Oncology department at Rutgers Cancer Institute of New Jersey (CINJ).
The primary role of the Research Associate I (RA I), under direction of the Principal Investigator, is to assist with the design and conduct of research studies on tumor immunology, T cells, and cellular therapy according to set protocols. Performs highly specialized research, technical experiments, and laboratory techniques of a specialized nature under direct supervision of the Principal Investigator. Assists in the analysis of data using computational biology tools.
Among the key duties of this position are the following:
Performs professional and scientific research in the areas of tumor immunology and cancer immunotherapy, especially with detailed knowledge of T cell biology, antigen presentation, T cell receptors, cellular therapy, and CAR-T cells. This research includes cell culture, transduction, transfection, retroviruses, lentiviruses, construction of vectors and DNA cloning, RNA synthesis, flow cytometry, cytolysis assays, cytokine assays, proliferation assays, PCR, analysis of human samples, and murine tumor models.
Participates in the daily activities of a group of professional and technical personnel engaged in research and/or testing activities.
Under the directions of the Principal Investigator, investigates, reviews, modifies, develops, and tests new analytical procedures and methodologies.
Follows laboratory rules and research protocols.
Maintains laboratory equipment and responsibly for proper disposal of hazardous waste.
Interprets raw analytical data and presents and submits conclusions to the Principal Investigator for approval.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Ph.D. Degree or equivalent in a relevant science plus two (2) years of related research experience.
Equivalent experience, education and/or training may be substituted for the education requirements.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
Excellent organizational, communication, and interpersonal skills.
Effective oral and written communication skills.
Computer literate with proficiency and working knowledge of database and reporting tools such as Microsoft Word, Excel, Access, and PowerPoint.
