Reporting to the Executive Dean, the Associate Dean of Finance and Chief Financial Officer serves as an integral member of the Radcliffe Institute's senior management team in setting and executing the overall financial management strategy for the Institute. A key member of the senior management team, the Associate Dean for Finance/CFO acts as a senior advisor on matters related to strategic planning, long-range financial planning, risk management and represents the Institute at the University level. The Associate Dean for Finance/CFO is responsible for the provision of superior financial services, accurate and timely financial reporting, and compliance with University financial policies and internal controls and applicable legal rules and regulations. Maintains a strong organization with appropriate levels of accuracy, responsiveness, quality, efficiency, and professionalism.
As a strategic business partner and sounding board to the Executive Dean and senior leadership team, the Associate Dean for Finance/CFO makes a significant impact by improving operational efficiencies to support the continued growth of the Institute.
Direct the development of strategic long-range financial plans and projections, and analyze the financial impact of proposals for new activities
Manage capital projects planning and financing process, working with the Executive Dean, the Director of Facilities Management, and facilities staff to determine priorities and monitor progress of major capital projects
Supervise finance office staff in provision of financial services to all parts of Radcliffe and oversees development and implementation of financial training in University administrative systems, financial policies, and procedures
Oversee management of Radcliffe's annual budgets, providing timely financial analysis, quarterly forecasts, and reporting to deans and departments
Oversee management of financial operations including payrolls, general accounting, fixed assets, quarterly reports to the university, and quarterly and fiscal year-end closings and develop strategic financial policies, ensuring compliance with Radcliffe and Harvard University policies and procedures
Partner with the External Relations department to develop policies and systems that ensure smooth financial information flows between the units, to develop gift opportunities that align with long-range financial planning and Institute priorities, to review implications of fund-raising proposals and donor gift terms, and to ensure proper stewardship of donor funds
Coordinate use of funds in operations, ensuring compliance with terms and annual audit review
Manage sponsored research activity review and approval process, overseeing review and approval of sponsored budgets, financial control systems for monitoring sponsored activity, financial reporting to external funding agencies, and liaison with the Office for Sponsored Programs
Represent Radcliffe on Harvard University committees, collaborating with other financial deans and the Vice President for Finance and Chief Financial Officer on development of Harvard University-wide policies.
Supervise direct reports including, hiring, professional development, training, prioritizing work and managing performance.

Advanced degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration or related field.
A minimum of ten years progressively responsible experience in accounting, finance, and/or financial analysis, which includes significant administrative responsibility and staff supervision.
Must have demonstrable and successful management and fiscal oversight experience, planning, budgeting, reporting and development of operational metrics to align organizational strategy to business operations.
The incumbent in this position will have exceptional strategic thinking, interpersonal, communication, negotiation, presentation skills and gain trust and credibility with the larger internal and external stakeholder audience. Must possess solid analytical skills, the ability to design and implement complex financial models; and financial control systems, policies, and procedures. Strong understanding of multiple funding sources, including gifts endowments, restricted fund accounting principles is preferred. Must have strong collaboration and communication skills, the ability to effectively communicate financial information to stakeholders with non-financial backgrounds, and a commitment to customer support. A highly organized and self-directed approach to work. Active listener who is open to new concepts and ideas, able to synthesize complex issues, and provide clarity to others. Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects and work successfully under deadlines. Experience in an institution of higher education is preferred.
