JOB SUMMARY/ESSENTIAL JOBFUNCTIONS: Under the direction of the ViceChancellor for Research, this position works collaboratively with the Directorof Research Development to manage an in-house grant and manuscript writing teamand deliver high quality writing services for UTHSC investigators.
Sets and enforces performance standards, delegates/provides ongoing guidance and support to scientific writing staff, and works with staff to establish suitable goals, action plans, and timelines.
Develops and implements scientific writing strategies for the efficient preparation of strategically aligned, consistently framed, and properly positioned scientific writing deliverables.
Works cooperatively with UTHSC investigators to edit and further develop first-draft proposals and grant applications (and supporting documents) for submission to extramural granting agencies by providing clarity of writing; proper English grammar and syntax; and agency appropriate formatting.
Edits and develops scientific articles, chapters, and presentations in collaboration with the PI.
Assists the PI in appropriate use of citations, creating tables and figures, and journal-specific formatting.
Provides guidance to PI on meeting grant and publication deadlines and requirements for submission to various funding agencies and publishers.
Works with PI to revise manuscripts and grant applications in response to reviewer's comments, along with generating responses to said reviewer comments and critiques.
Writes compliance protocols.
Develops scientific posters and presentations.
Performs other related duties and special projects as assigned.
