As a Clinical Nurse II, you will deliver direct care to assigned adult and or geriatric patients in an ambulatory setting. Nursing care is delivered using standards of care by following approved policies and procedures.
Summary of Essential Duties:
Utilizes nursing process to perform, coordinate and supervise patient assessments, develop and revise patient care plans, and provide nursing interventions
Triages phone calls using approved protocols and documents per established standards
Demonstrates critical thinking and performance in the coordination, implementation and documentation of patient care and consistently performs according to the standards of the profession
Provides and documents patient, family education and teaching
Demonstrates knowledge about protection of human subjects in research, approval of research through the Research Compliance Office, and control of research projects in the clinical area
Greet patients and provide an initial nursing evaluation as needed
Prepare patients for provider by reviewing current medications and record in medical record as needed
Takes appropriate vital signs
Sets up exam room/procedure rooms appropriately based on patient visit needs
Assist provider in examination/procedure rooms as needed
Perform designated diagnostic tests as directed by provider
Draw, prepare designated lab work and/or specimens
Administer immunization, injections, oral or IV medications
Assist in follow-up scheduling needs
Handles all designated clinical care telephone interactions with provider input
Assists with, and as necessary, performs administrative functions to include answering and triaging telephone calls for patient care matters, chart preparation for clinical care, loose filing, and assisting with appointment scheduling
