Med-Critical Care Medicine - Pennsylvania-Pittsburgh - (20004547)
Reporting to the Director, Technology, the Assistant Director, HSRDC Data Management provides leadership, and management support to Critical Care Medicine's health services research data center (HSRDC) and CCM IT teams. They will supervise and train junior and intermediate level staff of the data team. The Assistant Director must be an expert in SQL server and will manage and design data lifecycles from ETL to data destruction in a SQL Server environment, ensuring compliance with department and HSRDC policies. Incumbent will produce analytic data sets and create, design and maintain databases for department cost center and department websites to ensure compliance and management of billing information. Database sizes can range from a couple gigabytes to 50 terabytes.
Most actions will be performed in our secure HIPAA compliant environment according to data center policies and procedures and thoroughly documented. They will be required to ensure adherence to our honest broker policies and provide honest broker services when required by study IRBs. The position must be responsive to different requirements from different groups. Will be able to listen to groups needs and design and implement the most efficient solution in the environment. The incumbent will work with groups to fill in missing requirements to arrive at the solution. Will verify data accuracy and work with team to ensure QA methods are in place. Must be able to work as part of a team with strong communication skills.
Required skills include expert SQL Server skills with the ability to write advanced queries and excellent organizational, documentation and communication skills. Familiarity with Execution Plans and optimization a plus. Proficiency working with customer teams to create programs for data collection and ETL (either C# .net core or SSDT). Experience with SAS, Stata, and health datasets is ideal but not required. Ability to work in cloud environments with SQL as a service as well as NoSQL a plus.
