Detailed Job Description Web and Graphic Designer to work independently to design and coordinate the production of website and print materials for promotions, publications, periodicals, and electronic media elements for The Center for Integrated Manufacturing Studies and The Golisano Institute of Sustainability.
The major responsibilities of this job are as follows:
Translate technical findings and projects into graphic representations and copy for technical collateral
Design and lead the development, integration, and enhancement of custom websites for e-Learning and other special projects
Other responsibilities are:
design marketing collateral including graphics and copy software
photograph events and projects for use in collateral or simply documentation
coordinate the production of collateral by obtaining quotes from vendors and supplying them with technically correct files for production
update web site content text including photos, graphics, and downloadable collateral
maintain photo collection and design file archives
participate in planning and organization of events at or given by CIMS and GIS
maintain display cases and displays throughout CIMS and GIS
convert press kits into formats that can be used as collateral
attend trade shows and press conferences attended or given by CIMS and GIS
assist in building operations decisions that affect the aesthetics of the facility
establish and evolve style guidelines for CIMS and GIS
Required Minimum Qualifications A minimum of a Bachelor's degree in Graphic Design or similar is required with a minimum of 3 years of experience in the field. Applicants are required to present a portfolio of their work when interviewed.
This is not an entry level position. Requests often have short turnaround times, requiring someone with advanced skills to quickly and properly produce designs that are ready for on-screen, commercially printed, and/or by-hand production.

Adobe InDesign - advanced
Adobe Illustrator - intermediate
Adobe Acrobat - intermediate
QuarkXpress - advanced
Dreamweaver - intermediate
Microsoft PowerPoint - intermediate
Web programming languages (e.g. PHP, HTML5, jQuery
Optional specialized skills and experience desired:
Photography skills a strong plus
Candidates should be articulate, conscientious, and willing to work as part of a team as well as independently
Traditional studio art skills, advanced graphics software skills, ability to learn about various fields (engineering, science, etc.), handling budgets, people skills, ability to manage multiple projects, good writing and grammar skills.
