The postdoctoral researcher will work in the group of Prof. Aleksandar Donev (http://cims.nyu.edu/~donev) at the Courant Institute on developing fast methods for solving electrostatics and Stokes flow problems involving particles in semi-confined geometries. Examples of physical systems of interest include suspensions of colloids driven by external electric and magnetic fields, lipid membranes, and electrolytes.
The candidate will help implement and apply the novel computational techniques to problems of scientific importance, in collaboration with application scientists (including experimentalists) in soft condensed matter physics, chemical engineering, and cell biology.
Starting Date is flexible. The initial appointment is expected to be for two years.
Candidates should have a PhD degree and have experience with applied and computational mathematics, with a solid background in numerical analysis and scientific computing, and some familiarity with soft-matter physics.
