A postdoctoral researcher position is immediately open in Dr. Trinh's laboratory in The Department of Chemical and Biomolecular Engineering at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. The project involves development of the genome editing technology for a highly adaptable defense system against threats (e.g., pathogens, chemicals), with particular focus on developing computational algorithms and associated software. The project is part of the DARPA-funded research program that integrates both experimental and computational approaches. An interested candidate is expected to hold a Ph.D. degree in computer science, bioinformatics, bioengineering, biochemistry, microbiology, chemical engineering, or related fields with a proven track record of team work and refereed publications. Candidates with strong computational skills and backgrounds in bioinformatics, computational biology, machine learning, database, and software development are highly preferred. Supercomputing resources are available at The University of Tennessee, Knoxville through the National Institute for Computational Sciences (NICS), one of the leading high performance computing centers for excellence in the United States. The contract is on one-year basis and can be extended based on the research progress.
