Rutgers New Jersey Medical School invites applications for the position of the Benjamin F. Rush, Jr., MD Endowed Chair of Surgery. We are seeking an individual with strong leadership qualities and a record of accomplishment as a clinician and researcher to lead a department with a faculty possessing broad expertise in both clinical and basic sciences. The Department has become a highly recognized clinical and academic department. Clinically, the department performs 5000 procedures per year and maintains fully accredited residency (General Surgery, Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery, and Urology) and fellowship (Global Surgery, Vascular Surgery, and Trauma Surgical Critical Care) training programs.
With 32 full-time and 5 part-time faculty, current divisions in the department include Cardiothoracic Surgery, Clinical Research, General Surgery, Surgical Oncology, Liver Transplant & Hepatobiliary Surgery, Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery, Urology, Trauma/Surgical Critical Care, and Vascular Surgery.
Minimum Education and Experience:
Candidate must be certified by the American Board of Surgery, have or be eligible to apply for a NJ Medical License, CDS and DEA registrations.
Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:
The successful candidate should be a leader in the field of Surgery with a national and international reputation. Candidates must also have clinical and translational science expertise along with the ability to integrate both into a cohesive department excelling in research, education, and clinical services.
