Postdoc opening for Bajwa Labin Transplant Research Institute
A Postdoctoral Fellowposition is available in Dr. Amandeep Bajwa lab, Department of Surgery, Universityof Tennessee Health Science Center. The postdoctoral fellow will conductstudies on use of mitochondria in various models of liver and kidney diseases. Our work uses cell culture and pre-clinicalmodels (mice) to address hypotheses regarding the complex links between oxidativestress, ischemia and mitochondria.Ourresearch group includes three main areas (Molecular, Cellular andTranslational) that share common interest in the area of transplantation.This postdoctoralfellow is expected to think independently to design and plan experiments,problem solve, and be technically skilled in typical molecular techniques, withessential expertise in mouse models and cell culture. Knowledge of flowcytometry, immunohistochemistry, rodent pre-clinical models and renal and liverischemic injury surgical models are crucial.
The postdoctoral fellow isexpected to apply for grants with the mentoring support, complete first andco-author manuscripts and present findings at local and national meetings. Applicantswith lead publications in top scientific journals and presentations at nationalconferences will be highly favored for the position.
