TECHNICAL ASSOCIATE I , Biological Engineering , to assist investigators doing research at the cutting edge of nanoparticle synthesis, CRISPR/mRNA delivery, cellular imaging, DNA/RNA nanotechnology, neurobiology, and structural biology. Primary responsibilities will include cell culture, immunofluorescence, antibody modification, production and purification of RNA and DNA using in vitro translation, PCR, agarose gel and PAGE electrophoresis, phage production, and quantitative analysis of products. Additional duties will include managing the everyday needs of the lab, including helping researchers with routine protocols; ensuring that others comply with established lab standards; managing lab safety; serving as the lab's EHS representative; ensuring the proper maintenance of laboratory equipment which includes a qPCR machine, a UV/Vis spectrophotometer, a fluorimeter, and a confocal microscope; and performing other duties as requested.
Job Requirements REQUIRED : a bachelor's degree in bioengineering, biology, chemical engineering, chemistry, or related technical discipline; at least two years' laboratory technician experience in a research lab setting; experience in basic biochemistry and molecular biology, including primer design, cloning and PCR, gel electrophoresis, HPLC and purification, immunohistochemistry, immune fluorescence, western blot and cell culture; willingness to learn new techniques/protocols; ability to work independently and as part of a team, follow complex instructions, plan and troubleshoot experiments independently, and respond to the dynamic needs of the lab; self-motivation; attention to detail; excellent organizational and communication skills; and ability to carefully document and maintain work in detailed written records.
