Research - Laboratory/Non-Laboratory, Staff/Administrative
Job Responsibilities: We are seeking a highly self-motivated and well organized individual for a Scientist position to join our group of researchers studying heart and muscle regeneration. The research of the laboratory focuses on identifying genes that are involved in developmental and regenerative processes. This individual will work closely with a senior member of the laboratory and assist with experiments primarily focusing on gene editing. Responsibilities include:
-80% Gene Editing & Molecular Biology - Design primers, gRNA for PCR and CRISP/Cas 9 and computational biology
- Construct plasmid vectors, prepare plasmids with miniprep and midiprep and analyze DNA sequences. - Multplex gene editing using CRISP/Cas 9 - Testing using molecular & cellular biology techniques
20% General lab maintenance - Make solutions and gels for electrophoresis, organize reagents and chemicals, other lab maintenance jobs

Required Qualifications: -Bachelor's degree in biology or molecular biology or a related field of science plus at least one year of experience, or a combination of related education and work experience to equal at least five years. - Experience in molecular biology techniques. - Basic knowledge in genetics, biochemistry, and molecular biology with related course work. - Experience in using gene editing CRISPR/Cas9 technology
Preferred Qualifications: - 2 years of research lab experience - The ability/experience designing and constructing plasmid vectors and analyzing DNA sequences with web-based programs (BLAST and Pubmed). - Proven ability to meticulously and accurately record experiments in lab notebooks. - Experience in molecular biology techniques, ChIP, western blot analysis, PCR, cell/tissue culture, mouse husbandry, sectioning for histology, immunohistochemistry, computational biology, biochemical analysis of protein expression.
