Rural Virginia Horseshoe Coach: State role title is Education Support Specialist III, pay band four. Position #R0059. Full-time grant-funded, restricted position. Minimum starting salary is $35,278, plus fringe benefits package. This position is designed to promote secondary school completion, postsecondary enrollment, and postsecondary degree or credential attainment. This position will utilize a service model offered by Single Stop, a proprietary service that aggregates federal and regional services into one resource. Position Responsibilities: â¢Connect and coordinate 300 eligible students within VHCCâs service region with supportive programs available through Social Services agencies â¢Manage the collegeâs Single Stop platform, including college wide use, training, and reporting â¢Establish and maintain relationships with social services agencies â¢Assist students in the target population in developing individualized academic plans, applying for financial aid and scholarships, identify academic needs and link to tutoring or other learning support resources, visit student development course (SDV) classes and provide follow up when risk factors such as poor attendance or low grades are evident â¢Communicate with students in the target population on a regular basis and engage them in person individually and/or in small groups â¢Communicate with college faculty and coordinate with student services personnel regarding students in the target population to ensure that they have access to college resources and support that will lead to completion of their academic program â¢Capture appropriate data on student communications, interactions and success strategies in order to strengthen the collegeâs use of college success coaches â¢Responsible for retention, outreach and recruitment activities with some evening and week-end work required â¢Represent the college at events, visits to community sites to talk with prospective students and identify students interested in the college and the CSC program â¢Coordinate campus visits â¢Coordinate the flow of communication between VHCC and prospective students, including but not limited to, follow-up with prospective students who have initiated a VHCC and/or a FAFSA application â¢Establish and maintain effective relationships with students, faculty & staff and other stakeholders important to the college â¢Other duties as assigned by supervisor and/or VP of Instruction and Student Services
