Administrative Coordinator, Program in Veterinary Resources and Comparative Medicine - (200000VF)
The University of Maryland School of Medicine is hiring an Administrative Coordinator to work in the Program in Veterinary Resources and Comparative Medicine. Under the direction of the Senior Accountant this position will facilitate key operations in the Business Office of the Program in Veterinary Resources and Comparative Medicine. Duties include but are not limited to payroll processing, human resource transactions, procurement and assisting with financial reports.
The Program in Comparative Medicine, established in 1989, studies the characterization of animal models of human disease for biomedical research and the use of such models to advance understanding of disease or biological processes. Comparative Medicine contributes to the School of Medicine by providing accredited services for laboratory animal care, collaborative research, professional development of veterinary physicians and staff, formal training of veterinarians in residence and a resource for information and instruction on the use of laboratory animals in research.

Maintains commitment accounting data and logs and reconciles biweekly payroll.
Ensures timesheets and payroll adjustments are tracked and entered timely.
Follows up on delinquent timesheets.
Manages and attends to confidential matters of employment, credentialing, payroll accounting, and records management processes for the administrative unit.
Reviews line by line analysis of payroll and other financial reports for accuracy and variances. Identifies inconsistencies and errors and resolves or escalates as needed.
Provides support for purchasing and travel management for administrative unit's department as needed: including procurement card purchases, initiating purchase requisitions, and processing travel reimbursements.
Responds to inquiries with accurate and policy supported information.
Contacts appropriate resources when unable to find factual support for answers.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Education: Bachelor's degree in business administration, public administration, finance, accounting, human resources, or another related field. Experience: Two (2) years of related experience in use and analysis of financial, administrative, procurement, or human resources management. Other: A unique combination of education and experience will be considered.
Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities
Strong skill in Microsoft Office, specifically Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook.
Ability to effectively communicate both verbal and written thoughts, ideas, and facts.
Ability to work cooperatively with others and independently.
The Hiring Range for this position is in the mid $40,000s to mid $50,000s, commensurate with education and experience.
