The Business Intelligence Developer is responsible for providing BI solutions. This individual will have an immediate impact on enhancing operational and strategic data informed decision-making for the University. Through this role, this position would have the opportunity to provide insights that impact policy, practice and outcomes at Elon University working in a team environment to design, develop, and deliver enterprise business intelligence and analytic solutions. Special Skills Or Experience:
Experience with BI technologies, such as SSAS, MS Power BI, Tableau and other BI applications.
Strong ability to analyze user requirements and build front-end BI applications according to specifications.
Strong understanding of relational database structures, theories, principles, and practices.
Experience with BI development best practices such as agile methodologies, source code control, prototyping, and testing.
Experience with developing data models.
Experience with troubleshooting enterprise BI systems and processes.
Good knowledge of applicable data privacy practices and laws.
Strong written and oral communication skills.
Strong presentation and interpersonal skills.
Exceptional analytical, conceptual, and problem-solving abilities.
Able to prioritize and execute tasks in a high-pressure environment.
Demonstrated experience with enterprise scale databases and environments such as MS SQL Server, Cloud DBs or Oracle.

Supporting BI technology in a higher educational setting.
Knowledge of industry trends including data mining, visualization and predictive modeling.
Ability with SSIS or other related ETL tools.
Knowledge of Ellucian Colleague data structure.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Strategy & Planning
Assess and cultivate long-term strategic goals for BI development in conjunction with end users, managers, clients, and other stakeholders.
Participate in BI project planning process to establish business requirements, define deliverables, conduct data analysis, and establish timelines.
Provide guidance and mentoring for the campus BI Community. Acquisition & Deployment
Conduct research and make recommendations on BI products, services, and standards in support of the university to enhance institutional decision making.
Direct, organize, and lead projects in the implementation and use of new BI software tools and systems.
Lead the integration efforts for merging BI platforms with enterprise systems and applications.
Design, code, test, and document all new or modified BI systems, applications, and programs.
Develop the semantic layer, metadata, reports, and report definitions.
Develop graphs and portal interfaces.
Assist in the design of databases and data warehouses to ensure interoperability with BI solutions.
Analyze user requirements and, based on findings, design functional specifications for BI front-end applications.
Collaborate with key functional stakeholders to better understand their business domain, processes and data.
Design and deliver end-user training and training materials; provide technical support as necessary.
Troubleshoot BI tools, systems, and software; performance-tune these applications as necessary.
