Applications are invited for a Research Associate (postdoctoral) position at Michigan State University working with Profs. Laura Chomiuk and Jay Strader on radio observations of compact objects.
This group has active multi-wavelength programs to study black holes, neutron stars, and white dwarfs in both the Milky Way and external galaxies. Our observational effort spans the range of radio, optical, X-ray, and gamma-ray wavelengths, and Michigan State has guaranteed access to the SOAR 4-m telescope in Chile. The successful candidate will likely focus on radio studies of compact objects, though candidates with experience at other wavelengths (e.g., X-ray or optical) are welcome to apply.
The initial appointment will be for one year, but renewal may be possible for up to two additional years dependent on performance and funding. The start date is negotiable but could be as soon as early 2021.
Candidates must hold a Ph.D. degree in astronomy, physics, or a related subject by the appointment start.
