Required Qualifications (as evidenced by an attached resume):
Ph.D. (or foreign equivalent) in a biological science in hand by date of March 20, 2021. Experience in running a mass spectrometer, such as the Agilent QTof, a Thermo Triple Quadruple or an equivalent mass spectrometer for metabolomic or/and lipidomic analyses. Experience in performing microbial and human cell culture.
Proficiency with mass spectrometers, particularly the QTof mass spectrometers from Agilent or Thermo Triple Quadruple LC-MS. Proficiency with microbial and human cell cultures. Experience with other mass spectrometers, such as Triple Quad from Thermo. Familiarity with metabolite or/and lipid research (e.g. phospholipids, sphingolipids and fatty acids). Familiarity with protein-protein interaction, effect of lipids on membrane proteins.
Brief Description of Duties:
The Postdoctoral Associate will assist the Principal Investigator in the department of Microbiology and Immunology and the Lipidomic and Metabolomic Facility at the VA Medical Center in the mentorship of Dr. Maurizio Del Poeta. The incumbent will conduct research and ensure that all experiments are appropriately conducted following the policies and procedures of Stony Brook University.
Running samples, provided by several principal investigators, using the liquid chromatography mass spectrometry for metabolite and lipid analysis. Microbial and human cell culture analysis.
Analyze, interpret the results of the analysis, solve potential problems and pitfalls, and discuss the data with the principal investigators
Contribute to write reports and manuscripts on the results obtained
Present the results in a logical way during research meetings or presentations and be able to provide ideas and set up next experimentations/questions
Other duties as assigned, which may include attending Scientific Conferences and Meetings.
