Building upon its commitment to foster an inclusive and more equitable environment and promote the success of underrepresented students, the Department of Bioengineering at the UCLA Henry Samueli School of Engineering and Applied Science invites highly qualified applications for TENURE-TRACK or TENURED faculty positions at Assistant, Associate or Full Professor level. Applicants for the positions must have a demonstrated record of excellence in, and show exceptional promise for, high-quality research, teaching and professional development. In addition, applicants must have a demonstrated record of interest in and commitment to the mentorship of students from underrepresented and underserved populations. The successful candidate will be expected to advance their active mentoring activities and participate in programs that provide research and professional development opportunities for our diverse student body (such as our Center for Excellence in Engineering and Diversity, our Women in Engineering program, the National Society for Black Engineers, Society of Latino Engineers and Scientists, American Indian Science and Engineering Society, and Pilipinos in Engineering and Sciences, and the UCLA Pacific Islander Education and Retention program). Teaching and service expectations will not exceed those of other faculty positions.
The Department seeks candidates with a Ph.D. in Bioengineering or related field with excellent track record of innovation, and exceptional potential to direct a world class, highly collaborative research program in the broad areas of bioengineering, including, but not limited to: molecular, cellular and tissue engineering, biomedical devices and instrumentation, biomedical imaging, and biomedical data sciences. With the close collaboration with the David Geffen School of Medicine and many other disciplines on campus, there are tremendous opportunities to develop interdisciplinary collaborations and innovative technologies to address medical needs. Candidates should be highly qualified to instruct in our core graduate and undergraduate bioengineering educational curricula, and are committed to teaching/mentoring students of diverse ethnic and cultural background.
