The Department of Cell & Developmental Biology at the University of Michigan Medical School (Ann Arbor) seeks a highly motivated individual to work as a Research Laboratory Technician Assoc or Intermediate in the laboratory of Dr. Dawen Cai (www.cai-lab.org).
The candidate will be responsible for performing a broad range of complex laboratory and research related tasks, including animal handling, bench work, data analysis, literature search, and writing reports. Acts as a specialist on laboratory methods and equipment functions such as training new members to use microscopes, to conduct biochemistry and molecular cloning experiments, and to perform data analysis. Troubleshoots problems and recommends solutions. Additional responsibilities include lab management duties, such as ordering, acting as a lab liaison, and paperwork preparation.
Research Lab Tech Intermediate:
HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 1-3 years experience in lab research in Drosophila and/or mouse handling .
Research Lab Tech Associate:
HS Diploma or Assoc Degree and 0-1 year experience in lab research in Drosophila and/or mouse handling
Applicant should be highly motivated with thorough, methodological, and accurate work habits, and must be able to work and lead as part of a team. The ideal candidate has a strong ability to multi-task and excellent verbal and written communication skills.
This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate.
