Cell and Molecular Biology Technician - Biomedical Engineering, School of Engineering - (20001543)

Biomedical engineering is a discipline of growing importance in society and is a vital and growing part not only of the Boston area but also of the whole US territory infrastructure - industry, academics, and hospitals. Established at Tufts University in September 2002, the Biomedical Engineering Department is located in the Science and Technology Center (4 Colby Street, Medford, MA), a state-of-the-art research and teaching facility, which also houses the cutting-edge interdisciplinary research activities of the Tissue Engineering Resource Center.
Cell and Molecular Biology Technician - This technician job exists to assist in the cultivation, maintenance and expansion of mammalian cells and organoids in support or a range of tissue engineering and regenerative medicine studies. This includes characterization of the cells with various assays, along with daily/ weekly lab maintenance tasks in maintaining and expanding the cells, as well as standardized assays in support of their characterization. In addition, genetic modification of the cells will involve various molecular biology techniques for selective control of cell functions.
Minimum requirement is a B.S. in biology, biochemistry, biomedical engineering or bioengineering or related background.
Some biological laboratory experience is required.
Background in cell culture essential, in molecular biology helpful.
Background in biology with mammalian cell culture experience, experience with molecular biology techniques helpful.
