Responsibilities The Social Work Supervisor is a Licensed Clinical Social Workers (LCSW) responsible for the operations of the LCSW Crisis Team within the Emergency Department. This position's fundamental responsibilities are planning, coordinating and evaluating Crisis Team LCSW activities. In addition, identifies and implement social work intervention and evaluates results for a wide variety of patient populations, directs and acts as a resource to other members of the LCSW Crisis Team as assigned and promotes compliance and support for policies and procedures. Additional responsibilities includes providing total, comprehensive, continuous and patient centered care which includes crisis interventions, social work assessments, documenting, planning, implementing, teaching, developing and evaluating a comprehensive social work plan of care and implementing appropriate interventions; non-medical discharge planning, coordination of health and mental health services with community providers; delivering social services to patients and their families. This individual works as part of the department leadership team and attends, participates and may lead meetings as needed.
Valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences License Clinical Social Worker License without restrictions.
Masters Degree in Social Work from an accredited School of Social Work.
Three years of clinical/direct service experience post-licensure within an acute care hospital setting.
Previous experience supervising program-level data collection as part of quality improvement or outcomes evaluation.
Knowledge of performance improvement and evidence-based practice. Knowledge of current trends in social work practice.
Knowledge of legal implications in clinical practice and documentations.
Knowledge of legal requirements and guidelines for providing psychiatric services including the appropriate use of 5l50.
Knowledge of and ability to effectively use current DSM manual.
Knowledge of child abuse, elder abuse, and domestic violence reporting requirements, and other significant legislation and laws regulating social work practice, e.g., Tarasoff, patient confidentiality, etc. Ability to make appropriate interventions based on law, professional ethics policy.
Knowledge and understanding of individual, child and family development, human behavior and communication, the influence of culture and values in social work practice, psychotherapy, case management, and the relationship between social work practice and medicine.
Previous supervisory experience post-licensure.
Clinical Social Services staff are on-site at UC Davis Medical Center 24 hours a day and seven days a week. Must be able to work variable schedule as needed.
This position may be subject to a criminal background investigation, drug screen, Live Scan fingerprinting, medical evaluation clearance, and functional capacity assessment.
