Salary Range: Commensurate with education and experience.
The Clinical Medicine Physician is administratively responsible to the Director of Clinical Services and through him/her to the Executive Director, Campus Health Services (CHS). He/she is a professional licensed to practice medicine in the State of North Carolina and expected to carry out this practice in an ethical and informed manner within the administrative framework of Campus Health Services. He/she is responsible for the direct care of eligible persons coming to Campus Health Services for medical care. He/she is expected to participate in the organizational performance improvement program and to bring to administrative attention any areas which in his or her judgment require attention for improvement reasons. He/she is expected to participate in the administrative governance of Campus Health Services as indicated. Teaching activity both with staff and health care professionals-in-training is expected. Consultation with members of the University Community and participation on health-related campus committees is also expected as required. The Clinical Medicine physician plays an important role in health education especially through individual contacts with student clientele.
Education and Experience:
Licensure by the North Carolina Medical Board. Board Certification in Family Medicine, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics or Emergency Medicine is expected. Physicians who have just completed a residency will be given adequate time to convert their States from board eligible to board certified. Two to three years of Practice experience preferred. The Clinical Medicine Physician must have a current knowledge in depth of his or her medical field and its standards of practice; have a commitment to the practice of quality medicine including a commitment to human value in that practice; have a special interest in the university setting and the processes of maturation which occur during college years, undergraduate and graduate; have an ability to work with physician staff, other professional and support staff to produce integrated professional services.
